EMPLOYMENT
SUMMER POSITIONS
Music Office Coordinator

SALARY
Negotiable; eight weeks, mid-June to early August. Room provided if necessary.

JOB SUMMARY
Assist the Chamber Music Coordinator and faculty in forming chamber music groups; provide staff support to faculty committees; produce weekly coaching and rehearsal schedules; manage personnel changes and scheduling conflicts for student groups; manage student recital series. Coordinate production of concert inserts and student concert programs; oversee music office assistants, community concert series, and music library.

EDUCATION/SKILLS
College education, preferably arts-related. Must have knowledge of classical music. Must have strong people, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Previous supervisory experience helpful. Must be proficient in English. Must have computer skills. Must be able to handle multiple competing tasks simultaneously.

EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a music festival, music library, or in a related setting.


CONTACTS
Reports to the Chamber Music Coordinator. Extensive contact with staff, faculty, and students (ages 12 to 40) from many different cultures. Limited contact with the general public.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position requires sitting for much of the workday. Must be able to walk up stairs and be able to move about campus quickly and easily. Must have a valid US driver's license and be able to drive a 10-passenger van.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Most work will be done in the office between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Flexibility required during busy periods, which may entail working nights, weekends, and holidays.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Supervise Music Office Assistants' work and delegate tasks. Supervise scholarship students.

TASKS, DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate times, data entry and schedule posting for the following activities: individual lessons; chamber group coachings and rehearsals; masterclasses; student concerts; orchestra rehearsals, Gamper Festival activities; outreach performances.
  • Schedule rehearsal times for the Upbeat! concerts; communicate information to faculty.
  • Work with campus scheduler to secure additional space if needed.
    Communicate with the Office of Summer Programs regarding use of space on campus.
  • Compile orchestra roster, ensure data is entered and posted.
  • Assist in producing student concert programs for the Chamber Music Coordinator.
  • Order all music as needed and ensure its return by the end of the festival.
