EMPLOYMENT
SUMMER POSITIONS
Music Office Assistant

SALARY

$350/wk for seven to eight weeks, mid-June to early August. Room provided if necessary.

JOB SUMMARY

Assist the Music Office Coordinator with scheduling and managing student lessons, masterclasses, chamber group coachings and rehearsals, student concerts, faculty concerts, and Gamper Festival activities. Arrange for and order music. Assist in communicating schedules to all festival participants, faculty, and staff. Arrange, schedule and drive chamber groups to community concerts. Assist in the production of concert programs and inserts and other materials.

EDUCATION/SKILLS

Some college education, preferably music-related. Should have basic typing and computer skills. Prior experience with Microsoft Office helpful. Must have strong people, organizational, and problem solving skills. Must be proficient in English. Must be able to handle multiple competing tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of classical music helpful.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in an office setting answering phones and dealing with the public.

CONTACTS

Reports to Chamber Music Coordinator. Extensive contact with staff, faculty, and students (ages 12 to 40) from many different cultures. Limited contact with the public.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires sitting for much of the workday. Must be able to traverse stairs and move about the campus easily. Must have a valid US driver's license and be able to drive a 10-passenger van.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Much of the work will be done in the office between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Flexibility required during busy periods which may entail working nights, weekends, and holidays.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Supervise scholarship students doing a variety of tasks.

TASKS, DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with light secretarial work such as reception, data entry, correspondence, filing, organizing, etc.
  • Assist with coordinating individual lessons, chamber group coachings and rehearsals, masterclasses, student concerts, orchestra rehearsals, concerts, community concert performances.
  • Assist in producing concert programs and inserts.
  • Manage music library.
  • Locate individuals who do not show up for rehearsals.
  • Drive students to community concerts.
