APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
INSTRUMENTAL & WOODWIND

  • [img] French HornA completed application form AND a photocopy of the completed form (so you're sending us 2 copies of the application.) NO STAPLES PLEASE.
  • A $50 nonrefundable application fee if postmarked on or before January 31, 2008. If postmarked after January 31, 2008, please include a $75 nonrefundable application fee. All fees should be made payable to the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Inc. in U.S. Dollars.
  • A letter of recommendation. This requirement is waived for 2006 and 2007 festival alumni whose teachers are returning, and for applicants who wish to have their current teacher as their festival teacher.
  • A recording (cassette tape or CD only.  No video tapes or mini disks). This recording should contain two audition pieces of any length, that best represent your current level of playing. All recordings and accompanying cases must be clearly labeled with your name, instrument, and 1st choice faculty member. Please also cite the titles of the pieces, the composers, and the length of each selection. If you are presently studying with a member of the Bowdoin International Music Festival faculty, his/her recommendation may take the place of a recording. (Please note: application materials will not be returned to instrumental program applicants).
  • In the case of pre-formed groups, each group member must apply individually and be accepted to a studio for their instrument. The group will be coached together, but members will be treated as individuals for the purpose of scholarship and housing assignments.
