Artist Instructors

"At Bowdoin, a spirit of kind generosity prevails and infuses the experience and the music-making."

Joel Smirnoff, President, Cleveland Institute of Music

Meet our Artist Instructors:

The Bowdoin International Music Festival engages faculty members and renowned artists from major conservatories, orchestras, and performing groups worldwide to serve as instructors in our Summer Study program and performers in our seven concert series. Notable conservatories such as Juilliard, Eastman, Indiana, Peabody, Shanghai, and London’s Royal College; major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic; and important chamber groups like the Ying and Shanghai string quartets and the Aeolian Chamber Players are represented within the group.

Our artist instructors work with our summer study participants in a collegial environment to advance each participant’s skills through private and group instruction, masterclasses, and the study and performance of chamber music. They also collaborate with each other and with our participants to present more than 80 concerts each season.
