The Festival makes all final decisions regarding studio assignments. As a participant, your lessons, repertoire, masterclasses, and chamber music will be individually guided by your assigned instructor.
Preparation of solo and chamber repertoire for studio classes, masterclasses, and concerts is an integral part of this program.
Participants in the Instrumental Program receive:
- Private instruction – At least one hour-long private lesson for each week enrolled, with most instructors being available for additional assistance.
- Group instruction – Artist instructors may provide studio classes at their discretion for additional instruction.
- Masterclasses – Artist instructors offer weekly masterclasses. All masterclasses are open to all Festival participants.
- Chamber music instruction – Participants are assigned to one or more chamber groups, which receive hour-long coachings twice each week. Each group, with support from its coach, determines its own practice schedule.
- Individual practice – Participants are expected to develop and manage their own schedule such that individual practice time is prioritized and well utilized.
- Performing experience – Participants have opportunities to perform in our Artists of Tomorrow concert series, presented 3 or more times each week in Studzinski Recital Hall, and in our Community Concerts series. Most participants perform at least once. These concerts are open to the public and provide a forum for acquiring skills and insights vital to and artist’s maturity. Participants may also perform in concerts with instructors and guest artists in the Festival’s other concert series.
- Digital recordings – Participants may request copies of their own performances in the Artists of Tomorrow concerts series before leaving the Festival.
- General expectations – See our Summer Study and FAQ pages.
