Application Requirements

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE:
- Application fee: Non-refundable application fee payable to Bowdoin International Music Festival in U.S. dollars
- $75 on or before January 29, 2010
- $90 after January 29, 2010
- Letter of recommendation: from your current teacher. This requirement is waived if you are applying to study with your current teacher or with your last year’s Festival instructor. Include this letter in the envelope with your application material, otherwise we cannot guarantee that it will be seen.
INSTRUMENTAL PROGRAM APPLICANTS:
- Application fee and recommendation: as described above.
- Application form: Original + copy of application form FOR EACH FIRST CHOICE INSTRUCTOR. No staples.
- Audition CD: FOR EACH FIRST CHOICE INSTRUCTOR (No cassette tapes, video tapes or mini disks)
containing two contrasting pieces of any length that best represent your current level of playing. Clearly label each CD and case with your name, instrument, title, composer, and length of each piece. If your current teacher is your first choice instructor for either session, the CD requirement is waived for that session. You must send a CD for the other session.
- List of works (solo, chamber, concerti, etudes) studied during the past year FOR EACH FIRST CHOICE INSTRUCTOR. Place an * next to pieces you have performed.
- Pre-formed groups: Each performer must apply individually and be accepted. The group will be coached together, but members will be treated as individuals for the purpose of financial assistance and housing assignments.
- Financial assistance application: Optional. To be considered for any form of financial assistance, you must submit one copy of a completed financial assistance application form with the required documentation in addition to your regular Festival application.
- Audition materials will not be returned to instrumental program applicants.
WOODWIND PROGRAM APPLICANTS:
- Application fee and recommendation: as described above.
- Application form: Original + 1 copy of application form. No staples.
- Audition CD: (No cassette tapes, video tapes or mini disks) containing two contrasting pieces of any length that best represent your current level of playing. Clearly label the CD and case with your name, instrument, title, composer, and length of each piece.
- List of works (solo, chamber, concerti, etudes) studied during the past year. Place an * next to pieces you have performed.

- Financial assistance application: Optional. To be considered for financial assistance to help defray cost of room, board, and other fees, you must submit one copy of a completed financial assistance application form with the required documentation in addition to your regular Festival application.
- Audition materials will not be returned to woodwind program applicants.
COMPOSITION PROGRAM APPLICANTS:
- Application fee and recommendation: as described above.
- Application form: Original + 1 copy of application form. No staples.
- Scores: Two different, original scores labeled with your name.
- One CD containing recordings of each of the scores. No cassette tapes, video tapes or mini disks; MIDI realizations are acceptable. Label the CD and case with your name, “composition applicant” and the title and length of each piece.
- Financial assistance application: Optional. To be considered for any form of financial assistance, you must submit one copy of a completed financial assistance application form with the required documentation in addition to your regular Festival application.
- Scores and CDs will be returned to composition applicants who provide a stamped return envelope.
