SUMMARY:Young Artists Composers Concert
DESCRIPTION:The first 90 minutes of tonight’s program features student compositions inspired by works of art at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. We have included gallery information with each piece\, and we invite guests to visit the Museum to view the works. \nThe Festival’s composition program is led by composers-in-residence Derek Bermel and Andreia Pinto Correia.  \nBRANCH FREEMAN (b. 1997)\nThe Ends of Artifice \n\nMovie Star\nBird\nThe Flagellation of Christ\n\nNathaniel Wolff\, English horn • Zhiwei Ni\, clarinet • Justin Cao\, bass • Megan Apostol\, harp • Michael McKeague\, Alexa Clawson\, Aidan Gold\, percussion \nThis piece was inspired by: (1) Thornton Dial\, Movie Star\, 1994\, charcoal\, pastel and graphite on paper; (2) Edward Julius Detmold\, Macaw\, 1924\, color etching and aquatint; and (3) Bernardo Castello\, The Flagellation\, pen and brown ink\, brown wash over black chalk.
