La volière magique \nFRANZ SCHUBERT (1797-1828)\nImpromptu in B-flat Major\, Op. 142\, No. 3\, D. 935 \n  \nArtist Bio \nJune Han is hailed as a “true and tasteful harpist… [with] exceptionally varied phrasing and a surprising yet innate sense of timing” by the Concert Review Magazine at her debut recital in Carnegie Hall. \nShe is an active proponent of chamber and contemporary music and has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center\, Speculum Musicae\, Manhattan Sinfonietta\, Bronx Art Ensemble\, Music from Japan\, the Group for Contemporary Music\, Sequitur Ensemble\, Ensemble 21\, Mabou Mines\, Alarm Will Sound\, Talea Ensemble\, and Jupiter Chamber Players. As an orchestral musician\, she has collaborated with Orchestre de Paris\, the Kirov Opera Orchestra\, the Mariinsky Orchestra\, New York City Opera\, and frequently performs with the New York Philharmonic\, Boston Symphony\, and the Metropolitan Opera. She has appeared as a solo artist with the Durham-Oshawa Symphony Orchestra\, the Colonial Symphony\, and the Aspen Young Artist Orchestra. \nHan has been a guest artist in summer music festivals such as Santa Fe\, Norfolk\, OK Mozart\, Skaneateles\, Moab\, and Chesapeake Chamber Music Festivals. She has collaborated with distinguished musicians\, namely the Orion Quartet\, the Shanghai Quartet\, the Jupiter Quartet\, the Johannes Quartet\, Tara Helen O’Connor\, Lucy Shelton\, Tony Arnold\, and Susan Narucki. \nThe daughter of a renowned composer\, Han is an ardent advocate of music by living and contemporary composers and has given numerous world premiere performances. Her discography includes works by her mother Young Ja Lee\, Poul Ruders\, Charles Wuorinen\, Lei Liang\, Samuel Adler\, John Zorn\, George Rochberg\, Ursula Mamlock\, Giacinto Scelsi and Elliott Carter\, as well as French music by Andre Jolivet\, Jean Cras\, Claude Debussy\, Jean Francaix\, under the labels of Naxos\, Bridge\, Kaufman\, New World Records\, Albany and Tzadik. She is the dedicatee of Lei Liang’s harp concerto\, Young Ja Lee’s harp concerto\, and Samuel Adler’s Canto XXI for harp solo. Her U.S. premiere of Stockhausen’s Freude for two harps was reviewed as “mesmerizing…” and “brilliantly executed” by The New York Times. \nHan holds a Premier Prix in Harp and Chamber Music from Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris\, a Master of Music and Artist Diploma from Yale School of Music\, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School. She serves on the faculties of Yale School of Music\, Columbia University’s Music Performance Program\, The Juilliard School Pre-College Division\, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival. She has held master classes at Seoul National University\, New England Conservatory\, Boston University\, Boston Conservatory\, and The Juilliard School. In 2018\, she joined the online faculty roaster the Harp Column Academy and was featured on the cover story of the Harp Column Magazine in July 2019.
