Frank Huang Named New York Philharmonic Concertmaster
Congratulations to Festival faculty member Frank Huang, who was named concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic on Wednesday, April 8. Mr. Huang first came to the Bowdoin International Music Festival as the first violinist of the Ying Quartet in 2010. Since his appointment as concertmaster of the Houston Symphony in 2011, Huang has continued to teach and perform at Bowdoin each summer. He will be in residence this summer from July 18 to August 8, and will lead Dvořák’s “Dumky” Trio on July 22, Dohnányi’s Serenade for String Trio,on July 29, and Copland’s Appalachian Spring on August 7.
