Chi-Yun Liu, a 23-year-old violist from Tainan, Taiwan, is a Master’s degree student of Dimitri Murrath at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She completed her Bachelor’s in viola performance at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore where she studied with Zhang ManChin with full scholarship.

In 2022, Chi-Yun was a freelancer in the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra. That year she also attended the Aspen Music Festival where she studied with Victoria Chiang and Choong-Jin Chang and the VivaViola festival held by Hsin-Yun Huang. In 2019, she was chosen to be a member of the Asian Youth Orchestra with full scholarship, and performed at various halls in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. In 2017, she served as principal violist in the NTSO International Youth Orchestra. Chi-Yun has participated in masterclass with Lech Antonio Uszynski, Nobuko Imai, Su Zhen, as well as Emanuel Ax for a piano quintet masterclass and Nicholas Mann for a string trio masterclass.
