Claire Arias-Kim is a 23-year-old violinist pursuing a M.M. at the The Juilliard School with Ronald Copes. She also received her BA from Juilliard. In past years, she has soloed with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, LaCrossse Symphony Orchestra, Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago, Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra, Lakeview Orchestra, and Ottawa Chamber Orchestra. Over the past two years, she has given four consecutive recitals at The Juilliard School.
For three consecutive years, Claire has been selected to participate with her chamber ensemble in the quarter-finals of the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition where most recently she advanced to the semi-finals as a member of Trio Sarrasin. Awards in chamber music include second prize in the Rembrandt Chamber Competition as well as first prize and Grand Award winner in the Barnett Chamber Music Competition.
In 2017 Claire was selected to perform a recital at the Young Steinway Concert Series. Claire was also a featured artist on WFMT’s “Introductions” where she performed a recital that was simulcast live. She is a National YoungArts Foundation Winner for 2017 and 2018. She also was selected (for a second consecutive year) as a semi-finalist for the 22nd Annual Sphinx Competition.
In 2019, she was selected to perform in the Concerto Round of the Cooper International Violin Competition. Claire has received first place in the Sejong Music Competition and Granquist Music Competition as well as prizes in the Music Festival in Honor of Confucius Competition and DePaul Concerto Festival. She was one of 12 violinists selected to be part of the Brian Lewis Young Artists Program, a fully funded program made possible through the generosity of the Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation for ten to twelve highly gifted violinists.
Claire has had violin masterclasses with Augustin Hadelich, Ilya Kaler, Vadim Gluzman, Ida Kavafian, Ani Kavafian, Kristof Barati, Yair Kless, Gerardo Ribeiro, Peter Herresthal, Rachel Barton-Pine, and Olga Kaler, as well as piano masterclasses with Dr. Brian Lee and Angela Yoffee. During the summers of 2017, 2023, and 2024, she was a participant of the Bowdoin International Music Festival. In past summers, she attended the Aspen Music Festival under a full scholarship studying with Robert Lipsett.
