Daniel Halstead is a Los Angeles-based horn player originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is currently completing his master’s degree at the University of Southern California, studying with Julie Landsman. He earned his B.M. from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Richard King and Nathaniel Silberschlag.

An active freelancer, Daniel has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, and the Firelands Symphony Orchestra. He also served as principal horn for two years with the prestigious New York String Orchestra Seminar under conductor Jaime Laredo, performing to a sold-out Carnegie Hall.

Daniel’s summer festival experience includes the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute, the Pierre Monteux School and Music Festival, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Institute, and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. He has performed in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Severance Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Cincinnati’s Music Hall.

In addition to the horn, Daniel has played the violin for nearly his entire life. Beyond music, he is passionate about politics and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
