Praised for her expressive playing, Ellen O’Neill is a New York City based oboist. As a native New Yorker, Ellen was exposed to a diverse music scene that inspired her to pursue music as a career. Ellen has given a number of solo and chamber music recitals while also holding principal positions with various orchestras at Manhattan School of Music. Recently she performed under conductor Leonard Slatkin for his 75th birthday celebration at Manhattan School of Music with actor Alec Baldwin and flutist James Galway. Ellen has participated in many young artist programs including the Eastern Music Festival, Rocky Ridge Music Festival, Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, New York Summer Music Festival, and French Woods Festival. In her musical career, Ellen has performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and Aberdeen Music Hall. In addition to performing, Ellen holds an administration position at Carnegie Hall where she works with the Artist Training Programs. Ellen earned her Master of Music in Classical Oboe Performance at Manhattan School of Music, studying with Stephen Taylor. As a Presidential Scholar, Ellen earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Oboe Performance at Ithaca College, studying under Dr. Paige Morgan.
