Canadian cellist, Emma Pascale Fisher comes from a family of musicians and began playing at the age of three. Ms. Fisher’s solo and chamber music career has taken her to halls such as the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, Koerner Hall, and Jordan Hall. Her solo debut was at age 14, performing Haydn’s C Major Cello Concerto with the late Jacques Israelievitch. Since then, Ms. Fisher has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras in Canada, most notably Strauss’ Don Quixote with the Hart House Orchestra. Ms. Fisher enjoys a diverse career that extends beyond solo performances, reflecting a passion for chamber music and orchestral playing. She has served as principal cellist in orchestras at the Music Academy of the West. Passionate about expanding the classical repertoire, Ms. Fisher is committed to exploring lesser-known classical and contemporary works and integrating them into the concert canon. Ms. Fisher has had the pleasure of premiering many Canadian and American works for solo cello, most recently Dan Locklair’s Rhapsody. Ms. Fisher has participated in many music festivals and residencies across North America, including The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Music Academy of the West, Orford Musique, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival.
Ms. Fisher attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto where she studied with Hans Jørgen Jensen, David Hetherington, and Paul Widner. She earned her B.M. at the New England Conservatory studying with Paul Katz. Emma received her M.M. at McGill University and is continuing her studies with Brian Manker. Ms. Fisher plays on a Caussin cello made in 1762.
