Korean violist Hyemi Choi is currently pursuing her Graduate Certificate at the University of Southern California, studying under the guidance of Che-Yen Chen on full scholarship.

As a chamber musician, she has performed at numerous venues and festivals including Gstaad Menuhin Festival in Switzerland, receiving full scholarship, and numerous festivals in South Korea.

While she was at Ewha Womans University for her undergraduate degree, she won top prizes for the chamber and concerto competitions. She also received top prizes for The Strad, Korean Chamber Orchestra, and Arsnova Orchestra competitions.

Hyemi has served as principal violist of several orchestras, including the USC Thornton Symphony, the Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, and Ewha Orchestra.

She has enjoyed several unique collaborative projects with dancers and screen scoring in Los Angeles.

Hyemi has taken lessons and masterclasses with notable violists such as Ettore Causa, Kim Kashkashian, Richard O’Neill, Teng Li and Yizhak Schotten. Her principal teachers have included Che-Yen Chen, Hungwei Huang, Kisun Sung, Jui Kang, and Doyeon Kim.
