2023 Collaborative Pianist

Samuel Ka-Ming Leung is a budding collaborative pianist and classical saxophonist from Hong Kong. Leung is currently a first-year master’s student in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music under the direction of Dr. Andrew Harley, with a graduate assistantship in studio accompanying. He was accepted into the Collaborative Piano Institute 2022, where his mentors included Martin Katz, Anne Epperson, Marina Lomazov, Joseph Rackers, Ana Maria Otamendi, and Elvia Puccinelli. Prior to his arrival at Eastman, he was selected as a choir accompanist in the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival at the Vienna Musikverein in 2016, and the Chung Chi Choir of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. As the keyboardist and saxophonist of the 2018 Asian Youth Orchestra, Leung has given his debut performances in Beijing National Centre for Performing Arts Concert Hall, Taipei National Concert Hall, and the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. In 2019, he was a finalist in the 2nd Asia Pacific Solo Saxophone Competition. 

In May 2022, Leung obtained a Master’s degree in classical saxophone performance at Eastman, studying with Professor Chien-Kwan Lin. His tuition for this degree was fully funded by the ‘Hong Kong Scholarship of Excellent Scheme’. Leung was recently inducted into the Beta Pi chapter of the Pi Kappa Lambda organization.
