Session 2: July 13 - August 3

Faculty, Schwob School of Music, Columbus State University (GA); Conservatoire de Lausanne, Switzerland

Sergiu Schwartz’s students have been prizewinners in national and international competitions, including Paganini, Sarasate, Szeryng, Oistrakh, Sphinx, Blount, MTNA. He has been a jury member at major international violin competitions, including Tchaikovsky, Sarasate, Wieniawski, Oistrakh, Szeryng, Novosibirsk, Postacchini, Canadian National, Washington International, Sphinx, Blount, Stulberg, and others.

“Schwartz’s CD should provide a great sense of optimism that a younger violinist still commands such assured rhetoric and expressive resources. Heifetz, Milstein, Oistrakh, Isaac Stern, Francescatti – they all come to mind.” (Fanfare)

“Following in the footsteps of his fellow countrymen Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman, he is a product of the best of European romantic interpretative style and 20th-Century American technical acuity.” (New York’s Newsday)

Mr. Schwartz has performed as a soloist on four continents with orchestras including London Symphony, Dresden Staatskapelle, Jerusalem Symphony, Bern Symphony, Slovak Philharmonic, Mexico National Symphony and others, under preeminent conductors, such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Sergiu Commissiona, James Judd, Peter Maag, Bruno Weil, and Enrique Batiz. He has performed in major concert halls including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Recital Hall, 92nd Street Y, Kennedy Center; London’s Barbican Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Wigmore Hall; Jerusalem Theatre, Rome’s Accademia Santa Cecilia, and Seoul’s Kumho Art Center.
