Applications for 2022 Music Institute Open!

Applications are now open for the Bowdoin International Music Festival’s summer Music Institute, which will be in session June 25 – August 6, 2022. Each year, the Festival welcomes more than 250 students to Brunswick, Maine from around the globe to participate in an intensive exploration of chamber and solo music with 80 faculty and guest artists hailing from over 20 top conservatories. For these talented young musicians, the Festival experience consists of private lessons, coachings, studio classes, masterclasses, seminars, solo and chamber performances, concerts, and community engagement.

The Festival is committed to enrolling accepted students regardless of financial need and typically awards scholarships to 70% of students each summer. For thirty students in the Fellowship Program, the scholarship award covers the full cost of tuition, room, and board. The Festival is also pleased to announce that 2022 application fees will be waived for Maine applicants (Maine residents or students attending college in Maine). If interested in sponsoring a Festival student or contributing to efforts to increase accessibility, please visit the student support page. Maine students, please be in touch with Grace Bell for more information about the application fee waiver.

The Festival is planning a full in-person return and looks forward to welcoming friends and supporters back into Studzinski Hall and to Community Concerts throughout Midcoast Maine. Highlights will include concerts by the Jupiter, Pacifica, and Ying Quartets, Gryphon Trio, and Music from Copland House, as well as concerto performances by cellist Zlatomir Fung and pianist Orli Shaham.
