House Manager & Box Office Assistant

Overview

The House Manager & Box Office Assistant plays an integral role in the execution of all Festival concerts in Studzinski Recital Hall and Crooker Theater. The ideal candidate will enjoy connecting with audience members, volunteers, and donors, and be a collaborative team player 

Responsibilities

House Management

  • Manage front-of-house responsibilities in coordination with the Administrative Associate and Production Team to ensure that events run smoothly.  
  • Set up hall lobby and signage before events. 
  • Train volunteer ushers. 
  • Provide assignments to ushers and ensure they have the resources to perform tasks. 
  • Welcome audience members, answer questions, and serve as a Festival ambassador. 
  • Work with Production Team to produce a seamless concert experience for audiences. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. 

Box Office

  • Maintain strong communication with staff, volunteers, and audience members. 
  • Provide an engaging and organized approach to front-of-house services. Act as point-of-contact for events. 
  • Inventory, sort, and present merchandise. 
  • Support Box Office with Will Call tasks, including preparation of daily tickets and monitoring ticket returns as needed. 
  • Assist with student ticket distribution to Director of Residence Life. Monitor and communicate needs for additional seating during Subscription Series concerts. 
  • Track and mail requests for calendars and brochures. 
  • Track guest lists and waitlists for concerts. Assist Box Office with call backs. 
  • Track and follow-up with complimentary ticket holders. 
  • Ensure promotional materials are stocked and up to date. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Background or interest in music performance or study 
  • Experience working with the public 
  • Excellent communication and people skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Solution oriented  
  • Comfort working with a diverse body of students, faculty, and staff 
  • Highly collaborative, friendly, reliable, punctual, and flexible team player 
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks 
  • Strong computer and technology skills  
  • Previous experience in house or concert management and ticket sales a plus 
  • Proficient in English 
  • A valid US driver’s license and ability to drive a twelve-passenger van (helpful, but not required) 

Time Expectations

Considerable flexibility is required, as much of the work will take place during evening and weekend concerts and events.

  • June 16 – August 6, 2024 

Compensation

  • Salary: $570/week 
  • On-campus meal plan in Bowdoin’s award-winning dining hall (3 meals a day) 
  • On-campus housing (private room)
