Casey Oakes Appointed Director of Development & Communications

The Festival is pleased to announce the appointment of Casey Oakes as Director of Development & Communications. Oakes has been with the Festival for the past three years, most recently in the role of Director of Marketing & Communications. “I am thrilled to continue my work with the Bowdoin International Music Festival in this new position,” Oakes said. “We are proud to provide inspiring and world-class classical music performances and training and will continuously strive to bring exceptional performances to even more audiences. I look forward to working with Festival patrons and friends to continue building a strong future for this community, our faculty, and our highly skilled students.”

Casey Oakes is a Maine native who returned to the state after nearly a decade of work and study in various locations throughout the world. Highlights of his career include Cape May Stage, where he stage managed dozens of productions, and Gloucester Stage, where he contributed to an entire re-branding of the theatre’s public image and created a professional apprentice program for college graduates. He has also worked with Good Theater in Portland, Maine as a Stage Manager and Artistic Associate. Oakes has been with the Festival since the fall of 2015. He is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington and also attended the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland. He has led a variety of teams throughout his career and contributed to essential decision making that has resulted in wide spread organizational growth.

“My greatest passion is the support and development of the arts,” Oakes said. Casey is currently completing a Master’s in Public Policy, Planning, and Management with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine.

“Casey’s application and interview process demonstrated a high degree of initiative, commitment, and passion for the Festival which stood out among the candidate pool. His experience and success at our organization has undoubtedly furthered the Festival’s mission over the past three years,” said Daniel Nitsch, the Festival’s Executive Director. “I look forward to working with Casey to better position ourselves to carry out our mission and pursue our ambitious 5-year development goals.”
