Lydia Sorenson, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, began her musical studies at age three on violin. Additionally proficient in piano, organ, and percussion, Lydia received her Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Percussion Performance from George Mason University in Virginia. While pursuing her Master of Music Performance at the University of North Florida, Lydia serves as a Graduate Assistant.

Lydia is a member of Cohort Five of the Network for Diversity in Concert Percussion (NDCP). Her notable influences include Dr. Kevin McDonald, John Spirtas, and Master Sgt. Shane Nickels. Lydia currently studies with Dr. Andrea Venet and Kevin Garry.

Lydia is a Bowdoin Festival alum.
