Micah Gangwer, originally from Ohio, lives in Charleston SC where he is the Assistant Concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician he has performed across America and Europe including performances for ambassadors, royalty, and heads of state, and has been showcased on public radio and television. He has also been a part of many recording projects, most recently an album of string quartets by Thomas Cabaniss with the Charleston Symphony String Quartet that will be released by PARMA Records later this year. Recent solo engagements include performances of the Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Violin Concerto with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra and many solo appearances with the Charleston Symphony including works by Bach, Vivaldi, Richter and Schnittke. He attended Miami University for his undergraduate degree in violin performance, and studied at the University of Oklahoma and the University of South Carolina for graduate school. Micah is happy to be returning for his 18th summer at the Festival.
