Ruth Stokes is a cellist invested in musical collaboration. Originally from Minnesota, Ruth is based in NYC working on chamber projects and performing as a freelance solo, chamber, and orchestral cellist. In 2024, Ruth performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra Project on Bad Bunny’s 2024 Most Wanted Tour. She completed her Master’s in Cello Performance at Penn State University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with professor Kim Cook, and received her Bachelor’s from Frost School of Music where she was a Stamps Distinguished Ensemble Scholar with the Stamps String Quartet. Ruth’s other teachers include cellists Ross Harbaugh and Tom Rosenberg, and she will be beginning a Performance Certificate at Mannes School of Music in NYC with Jeffrey Zeigler this fall.
