Sam Kyzivat, originally from Simsbury, Connecticut, has dedicated himself to supporting southern Maine’s vibrant music scene. Prior to joining the Festival, he spent time working for REVERB, an environmental organization working to make bands’ tours more environmentally friendly, and Maine Youth Rock Orchestra (MYRO), a unique nonprofit that gave young orchestral students the opportunity to collaborate with nationally-touring bands and artists. Sam is also an accomplished composer, and has not only had pieces premiered at Bowdoin College by student music ensembles, but has also had arrangements performed at venues in Portland and Boston, writing for artists such as Darlingside, Shook Twins, and Palaver Strings. An aspiring media music composer, Sam has written for radio, podcast, and short film, most recently collaborating with Timber & Frame Media. Currently based in Portland, you can find Sam working as Operations Manager for the Portland Chamber Music Festival; playing electric violin, synths, and piano in indie folk band SnugHouse; or playing solo sets at yoga classes. Sam received a B.A. in Music (Theory & Composition) and Asian Studies from Bowdoin College in 2018. You can view his work at samkyzivat.com.
